EMERGING ROLE OF NEW MEDIA TECHNOLOGY IN TEACHING AND LEARNING: A LITERATURE REVIEW

New media technologies (NMTs) have profoundly impacted higher education, and have changed teaching and learning methodologies. The advantages and difficulties of NMTs in the context of education are examined in this article. The article looks at the benefits of NMTs, such as better communication, more interactivity, and easier access to information. It also covers the difficulties instructors and students have in making effective use of this technology. These difficulties include technological constraints, differences in individual learning preferences, cultural variables, and course design issues. Higher education is fast changing as a result of new media, which is becoming more and more important in how teachers and students connect and engage with the curriculum. This study examines how instructors are currently using new media, taking into account topic matter, demography, and prior teaching experience. The article highlights the complex relationship between social media and higher education. While it offers significant opportunities for enhancing teaching and learning, it also presents challenges that require careful consideration and strategic planning. By understanding the implications, higher education institutions can effectively harness the potential of social media while mitigating its risks.
