Abstract

The role of Electronic Human Resource Management Systems (EHRMS) in enhancing employee engagement and performance has gained significant attention in recent years, particularly in emerging economies. This study explores the impact of EHRMS on employee engagement and performance in Jordan, a country witnessing a rapid digital transformation in its public and private sectors. EHRMS tools are increasingly being adopted by organizations to streamline HR functions such as recruitment, training, performance management, and employee feedback, which are crucial for enhancing workforce efficiency and satisfaction. Using a mixed-methods approach, this research examines both quantitative data from employee surveys and qualitative insights from HR professionals and organizational leaders. The findings reveal that EHRMS significantly contributes to improving employee engagement by providing greater transparency, accessibility, and convenience in managing HR tasks. Employees perceive EHRMS as a tool that empowers them by offering real-time access to performance metrics, career development opportunities, and feedback, which fosters a stronger sense of involvement and motivation. Moreover, the integration of EHRMS has been linked to improved performance through the alignment of individual goals with organizational objectives, real-time performance tracking, and personalized development plans. However, challenges such as resistance to technological change, lack of training, and privacy concerns are identified as barriers to the effective implementation of EHRMS in Jordanian organizations. The study concludes with recommendations for organizations to invest in training, support systems, and robust data security measures to overcome these challenges and maximize the benefits of EHRMS for both employee engagement and performance.
