“CHALLENGES FACED BY CONSUMERS IN PURCHASING PACKAGED DRINKING WATER: AN EXPLORATORY STUDY”
Abstract
This empirical study investigates the challenges faced by consumers in purchasing packaged drinking water in the Raigad District. Utilizing a mixed-methods approach, the research combines quantitative survey data from 100 respondents. The survey included questions on consumption frequency, reasons for consuming packaged drinking water, brand preferences, environmental concerns, and willingness to pay for eco-friendly packaging. Descriptive statistics, were employed to analyse the survey data The findings reveal significant concerns related to environmental impact, pricing, and brand loyalty, with 65% of respondents expressing worry about plastic bottles and 45% willing to pay more for eco-friendly options.
The study provides valuable insights for manufacturers and policymakers, highlighting the need for eco-friendly packaging solutions, competitive pricing strategies, and enhanced brand communication. The thematic analysis of interview data supported these findings, revealing common themes of dissatisfaction with current packaging, price sensitivity, and the importance of brand reputation. By addressing these issues, stakeholders can improve the consumer experience and foster greater loyalty and satisfaction. In conclusion, this study underscores the multifaceted challenges faced by consumers in purchasing packaged drinking water and offers actionable recommendations to better meet consumer needs and contribute to a more sustainable market.
